Wulguru Diversion Gravity Sewer and Rising Main
Installation of gravity sewer in Townsville
This project consisted of the supply and installation of approximately 750m of DN250 gravity sewer, 1100m of DN300 gravity sewer and 1900m of 315mm OD PE sewer rising main throughout the Townsville suburbs of Wulguru, Annandale and Murray.
The project also included undertaking works within the Lavarack Army Barracks. The installation of the sewer infrastructure included the use of both open trench and trenchless installation techniques. In addition to this, the project involved the management of PFAS contaminated soils, undertaking works in highly water charged ground conditions and the replacement of existing gravity sewer mains using bypass pumping to maintain sewer flows during the replacement works.
The project involved extensive community consultation and engagement to minimise the impact on residents and other stakeholders during the works.
