InterLinkSQ Services Relocation
Relocation of Services for Intermodal Freight Hub
Newlands were contracted by InterLinkSQ to undertake the design and construction of service relocation works for their intermodal freight hub, a crucial component of the Australian Rail Track Corporation’s inland rail initiative. This project is aimed at creating a comprehensive intermodal freight terminal that seamlessly connects rail, road, air, and sea transportation.
As part of the extensive works, Newlands successfully installed approximately 2720m x DN375 DICL sewer rising main, 350m x DN450 DICL sewer gravity main and 2820m x DN560 HDPE recycled water main using a combination of open trenched and trenchless installation techniques. The project also included stakeholder management, the relocation of a protected flora species, installing services in QR rail corridors and the construction of access roads.
This project highlights Newlands’ expertise in delivering large-scale complex civil infrastructure developments. By facilitating the relocation of existing services, we played a crucial role in permitting the development of an advanced intermodal freight terminal, fostering seamless freight movement, and bolstering regional freight connectivity.
This project was completed in a 9 month timeframe.
