Sooning Street Water Main
Replacement of pipe to an existing water main on Magnetic Island
Newlands were contracted by Townsville City Council to undertake a critical project involving the replacement of a 33-meter section of DN200 Ductile Iron Pipe connected to an existing concrete culvert head wall. This pipe serves a vital link as part of the water supply infrastructure on Magnetic Island, acting as the primary feeder to the Arcadia reservoir.
The project involved meticulously replacing the failed section of the main that had deteriorated beneath the concrete apron at the Gustav Creek crossing. Newlands Group successfully completed the replacement, ensuring the seamless operation and reliability of this crucial water main.
Newlands Group recognizes the significance of this water main supplying water to Magnetic Island and safeguarding the community’s water needs. We are honoured to have played a part in preserving the water supply infrastructure’s integrity and ensuring continued access to safe and reliable water for the residents and visitors of Magnetic Island.
This project was completed in an 8-week time frame.
