Rosewood State High School

Newlands Group were contracted to construct the new manual arts shed at Rosewood State High School, aimed at providing a functional and engaging hands-on learning environment for students. The building’s foundation consists of a durable concrete slab, meeting all necessary structural certifications, while the frame is made from high-quality structural steel, ensuring lasting strength and stability. To enhance comfort throughout the year, the shed is insulated with bubble wrap material, which helps regulate temperature, keeping the space cool in summer and warm in winter.

Access to the shed is both efficient and user-friendly, with two PA doors on the north and south sides for easy pedestrian entry. Additionally, six roller doors are strategically positioned to facilitate the smooth flow of people and materials within the space, ensuring effective circulation.

A key feature of the shed is the inclusion of eight fully equipped welding bays, each furnished with specialised welding tables, mats and a quench tank, offering an ideal workspace for students. These bays are equipped with eight advanced extraction systems, ensuring the efficient removal of welding fumes and smoke, promoting a safe, healthy environment for all users. To further improve air circulation, a powerful 3.6-meter diameter fan has been installed, significantly enhancing ventilation and ensuring optimal airflow throughout the shed. This fan plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, comfortable and productive atmosphere for both students and staff.

The new manual arts shed represents a significant expansion of Rosewood State High School’s educational facilities. With its modern design, specialised features, and strong focus on safety and comfort, this facility will be a versatile space for hands-on learning and vocational training for years to come.

The project was successfully completed within a 3 month timeframe.
