Proserpine Potable and Raw Water Transfer

The Proserpine Potable and Raw Water Transfer Main Project was no simple installation. The terrain varied from large river crossings through low level flood plains as well as up steep sections of mountainous terrain.

The project specifics consisted of the following:

  • 4 major river crossings were undertaken as well as three smaller waterway crossings.
  • An intricate aerial crossing consisting of 750mm dia. Concrete piers were constructed over Myrtle Creek. Specialist sheet piling was undertaken for both the Proserpine River and Brandy Creek crossings.
  • Steep ascents and descents were also installed through specific sections which required a combination of concrete bulkheads and trench stops.
  • 4 major road and rail crossings had to be undertaken via specialist under boring techniques which involved working closely with both TMR and Queensland Rail. All were undertaken with little to no disturbance to traffic or trains.
  • Two specialised live cutovers were undertaken well within the very limited timeframes availed to Newlands Civil Construction.
