New England Highway Water Main Relocation

INSTALLATION, TESTING AND COMMISSIONING OF TRUNK WATER MAIN INFRASTRUCTURE

Newlands was contracted for the installation, testing and commissioning of replacement Toowoomba Regional Council trunk water main infrastructure, which required relocation as part of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing. This is critical infrastructure, being the main reticulated water supply pipeline, supplying Toowoomba City and surrounds.

  • Installation of OD1283 MSCL Welded Pipework (634m in-ground, 108m on new bridge), OD559 MSCL Welded Pipework (370m in-ground, 103m on new bridge), complete including bends, valves, fittings and expansion joints
  • Construction of 4 large valve chambers (150m³ in volume) and major thrust blocks (130m³ in volume)
  • Pressure testing and chlorination of all new mains
  • Decommissioning, grouting/removal of redundant pipework
