Highfields State School Administration
Innovative and functional school administration building
Newlands were proud to be contracted by Department of Education to construct a new Administration Building for Highfields State School. As the school’s population burgeoned, the need for a modern and expansive facility became imperative, prompting Newlands to apply its expertise in delivering a space that is both innovative and functional. The new building boasts a contemporary design, housing spacious offices, a welcoming reception area, staff room, conference room, sick bay, and ample storage facilities. In addition to constructing the building itself, our scope of work encompassed landscaping, car parking, and site services, which included the removal of an existing car park, toilet block, and excess soil from the site.
Overcoming the challenges posed by the school’s age, which exceeded 150 years, required meticulous planning and execution. Notably, the removal of old asbestos pipes from the previous water main demanded careful handling and adherence to safety protocols. Prior to commencing construction, extensive groundwork was undertaken to identify suitable foundation soil following the removal of the outdated water main, ensuring a stable base for the new building.
The project team worked closely with the school community and the Department of Education to ensure minimal disruption and maximum satisfaction. The new Administration Building will enhance the learning environment and the school identity for the students and staff of Highfields State School.
