Glenvale State School Drop Off Zone
Newlands was contracted to design and construct a 35-bay carpark facility for Glenvale State School, addressing traffic flow concerns during peak pick-up and drop-off times. The project required the resumption of part of the existing school sports oval to accommodate the carpark.
The works included the construction of a 130m long sandstone block retaining wall and concrete sleeper wall, with both walls at a maximum height of 3.5m. Additionally, Newlands also designed the associated stormwater catchment system to handle Q100 flood
events.
The project faced challenges such as a narrow construction easement and frequent wet weather. Despite these obstacles, the project was completed successfully within a 10-month timeframe.
