Coopers Gap Wind Farm Upgrade Major Intersections

Major intersection upgrades across multiple towns

Newlands were contracted to upgrade major intersections between the Port of Brisbane and the Coopers Gap Wind Farm located at Boyneside, to accommodate the transportation of the wind turbine components, including the wind vanes which were 60m in length:
• Cohoe Street / James Street, Toowoomba
• Tor Street / Bridge Street, Toowoomba
• Warrego Highway / Volker Street, Dalby
• Bunya Highway / Niagara Road, Boyneside
• Niagara Road / Substation Access
Works included, bulk earthworks, ground surface and subgrade treatment, crossroad drainage including cast-in-situ reinforced concrete headwalls, wingwalls and cut off walls, unbound pavements, lightly bound pavements, kerb and channel, sprayed bituminous and deep lift asphalt surfacing, road furniture, signs and guideposts, landscaping and revegetation.

Challenges faced on this project included ongoing design changes and a progressive approach to each intersection.

Project was completed within a 10-month time frame.
