Clifton, Goombungee and Millmerran Weighbridge Installation
Enhancing Waste Management Facilities in the Toowoomba Region.
Newlands were engaged by Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) to implement an essential waste management enhancement project. The initiative involved installing weighbridges across local waste management facilities, ensuring improved convenience for the 98% of TRC residents living within a 20-minute distance of a facility.
The project’s execution began with meticulous planning, utilising vacuum excavation for accurate service identification. This information was then used to optimise the weighbridge positioning on site, to ensure a minimum of conflict between the existing services and the design provided. Minor earthworks and concrete foundation works followed, along with the installation of electrical and communication conduits. The weighbridge installation included excavation, footing pouring, and seamless integration of the new weighbridges with the existing gatehouse facilities. Significant foundation improvement works were undertaken at the Clifton & Goombungee sites to ensure that the long-term maintenance of the weighbridge structures would be kept to a minimum.
Our dedicated efforts resulted in successful installations at multiple sites. In Goombungee, a single concrete deck weighbridge was integrated with the existing gatehouse. Clifton saw the entry and exit concrete deck weighbridges installed on either side of the existing gatehouse. At Millmerran, Newlands were able to install a lighter, steel deck weighbridge with an adjacent shelter structure.
