Chinchilla State High School Engineering Facility
State-of-the art engineering facility for High School
Newlands were contracted to design and construct a new engineering facility for the Chinchilla State High School. The purpose of the project was about linking students with local industry by providing them with the skills and knowledge to secure jobs in the local area.
The new state-of-the-art facility included: 2 General Learning Areas (GLAs), engineering workshop, storeroom, amenities, carparking and storage facilities. Newlands took careful consideration when designing the building to ensure it integrated with the neighbouring buildings. Ensuring the project was designed to meet criteria based on a recognised flood plain, ensuring the civil stormwater design catered for the agricultural land adjacent to the project, and in conjunction with the legal point of discharge point was a complex aspect of the design that through consultation and collaboration a successful outcome was achieved.
As part of this project Newlands supplied and installed all workshop equipment including welding bays with fume extraction ensuring a safe work environment for the students.
This project was completed within a 7-month time frame.
