Blue Mountain Hotel

Newlands was engaged to refurbish the historic Blue Mountain Hotel, with the objective of modernising both the interior and exterior while preserving its heritage and historical significance to the Toowoomba and Darling Downs community.

The refurbishment included the addition of a contemporary sports bar and gaming room, equipped with a state-of-the-art air conditioning and ventilation system for maximum patron comfort. To ensure the bar joinery’s durability, a water-resistant PVC product was used.

A key element of the project was the meticulous restoration of the heritage façade, which required sourcing bricks that closely matched the originals. Despite the building’s numerous additions and changes over the years, Newlands was able to seamlessly integrate the new infill with the existing façade, preserving its historical integrity.

Other improvements included upgrades to the bistro, amenities, bar, expanded car park and landscaping, all aimed at enhancing accessibility and overall customer experience. The successful completion of this project demonstrates Newlands’ ability to blend modern functionality with heritage preservation, ensuring the hotel’s historical charm is maintained while meeting the needs of today’s customers.

The project was completed within a 12 month timeframe, with the hotel remaining open to patrons throughout the entire process.
